The main purpose of this thesis is to understand and analyze the difference between Hsiuming Natural Farming Method and other farming methods. It also discusses the connections of land, environment and Hsiuming Natural Farming Method and the buildup of sales channels and the life style of farmers. Hope it can provide the solution for those who want to participate in agriculture field and make some contributions to the development of Taiwan agriculture. This research is based on the farmers who use Hsiuming Natural Farming Method in Taitung County by long term observations, interviewing and literatures reference. Hsiuming Natural Farming Method used in Taitung County is highest in Taiwan. After it was introduced by Yi-Long Lin in 2006, it has experienced six years. In this period, they insisted to execute the core value of Hsiuming Natural Farming Method, respect and orientate the nature. They work hard and insist not to use pesticides and fertilizers. They crop by themselves, plant same crop uninterrupted and choose appropriate planting. This farming method is seemed as a harmony with nature. It is an environment-friendly method and respecting the land behavior. However, how they overcome the challenges of insect pests, birds eating, weeding and soil fertility reducing, we will discuss in the thesis. We have some preliminary discovering as follows. Most people doubt if it could have good crop without using pesticides and any type of fertilizers, including organic fertilizers, even have the impression of small and ugly appearance. But in fact, after the Taitung farmers’ insistence of applying the core value of Hsiuming Natural Farming Method for six years, the land have already could excluded the toxic themselves and recover to the state of clean. The crops have already suited to the land and environment and the yield can compete with the conventional farming method. In recent two years, there are some farmers who applying Hsiuming Natural Farming Method, planting loquats, pineapples, sugar apples, bamboo shoots and guavas, they all get good, tasty, safety, healthy and energetic crops.
