This study is rooted on interpretive phenomenology as its research foundation. The research participants are over 30 years old of non-voluntary unmarried career women. The research text is acquired from semi-structural in depth interviewing with three participants. The text is then analyzed by fusion of horizons, with interpretation of the meaning for their own experience by the participants, the author tried to show the experience of non-voluntary unmarried women in the process of waiting for marriage. The non-voluntary unmarried women are passive to accept the unmarried status. However, they look forward to getting married one day. That’s why they will suffer more existential frustration. Besides, under the society that takes getting married as the mainstream value, they will suffer some pressure from the public. The study revealed the following experience characteristics of the non-voluntary unmarried women:(1)fell uncertain and unstable for the future; (2)suffer the pressure of hasted marriage from parents, relatives and friends; and the negative viewpoint from the public; (3)face the existential frustration, fall in anxiety, meaningless, loneliness and crisis of self-identity;(4)change the current situation and find the new meaning of life, plan the future life in advance. This study provides a primary interpretive reduction and analysis from the increasing group of singles. In practice, it can help readers in modifying their fixed image on the unmarried women and offer some concrete suggestions for related government units and future researchers.
