    摘要: 技術領域的靜態與動態觀:從測量到策略意涵 The State and Process of Managing Technological Scope: Measurement and Implication 這個兩年專題計畫提案是計畫申請人四年研究議程的前半段。申請人意圖從指標建構,技 術範疇軌跡演變的趨勢分析,到績效意涵的評估,並希望能衍生至跨國家比較。 延續在此相關議題的研究,計畫申請人試圖就先前發表的靜態與動態概念,加強概念以及 理論上的深度。特別針對中小規模企業以及新興產業,此研究企圖建構替代性的多角化指 標,以便釐清規模,範疇,以及分布三個概念的獨立以及交互關係。此研究希望能夠兼顧 學術的嚴謹以及時務的攸關性。新建構的測量指標將透過模擬方式解析三個概念不同的排 列組合,並透過次級資料的收集整理,呈現範疇演變的趨勢軌跡。實證模型將檢驗技術演 變的本質以及其隨機性;後續,並將評估技術範疇對組織表現的影響。 研究方法包含數學推導,深度訪談,次級資料分析,TPM 以及數種計量模式。在量化研 究部份,本研究將以IC 設計公司為樣本。計畫申請人在此產業已進行過數篇研究專題, 因此能夠進行深度資料收集以及解讀。 整體而言,這個專案計畫預期將產生3 篇學術論文,其中兩篇論文從台灣角度著眼,另外 一篇則是與國外學者共同撰寫。
    The State and Process of Managing Technological Scope: Measurement and Implication This 2-year proposal is the first part of applicant’s 4-year research agenda in delineating the various aspects of technological diversification, from the measurement, the temporal trajectory, to performance assessment and further to cross country comparison. Extended from applicant’s previous work on this issue, this study would attempt to enhance conceptual argument relate to the static and dynamic notion of technological scope. To mitigate the scale bias of the conventionally adopted index, it is set to derive alternative index to measure diversification for a SME or emergent industries context. It is suggested that the distinctiveness and the interrelatedness among the size, scope and dispersion components should be well accounted for. The measurement finding at a conceptual and technical level would be put into application via simulation or analysis for the evolving trend among sampled firms. Empirical models would be utilized to examine the presence (or absence) of technological scope as a strategic choice. Path dependency would be tested and performance implication be assessed. Methods used include: mathematical deduction, interview, transitional probability matrix and various extension of econometric dynamic models. The empirical context is IC design industry which the application has prior immersion with strong network linkage. Overall, this proposed study is expected to produce 3 scholarly papers, with two papers from Taiwan’s perspective, and one joint paper with international collaborators.
