Everyone has to face the dead destination. If Humans died, the living people will hold funerals for the dead. This not only is the rule of universe, but also the eternal task of sentient beings. By the cultural tradition of Han’s people, there was the core concept that the dead should be buried into underground to get the peace. So inhumation was the orthodox funeral in ancient China. Nowadays, Cremation is the main trends by cross-strait. Beside the inhumation and cremation, there were many different funerals, such as celestial burial, anti-corrosion burial and donating one’s body. Modern poets faced so many funerals, their souls were shocked when they met the serious meaning of life, the solemn value of death. We can find excellent poetry written by modern poets about these. I carefully studied these poetic works, and found these works not only had the secondary evidence of funerals but also could help the appreciation of life–and–death views, ghost concept and value propositions. I would say that the modern poets improved their philosophical depth in order to write the funerary poetry, and provided good themes for death education.
