In the first section, the paper explains the origin of the concept of globalization and its relationship with capitalism. Through reviewing the evolution and development of K.Max’s theory on capitalism, the status quo of art based on consumer culture is pointed out. From views of cosmopolitanism and post-colonialism, this paper then takes a look at the West and its colonies, their cultural differences, and artistic transformation in the new society. In Section II, conflicts between globalization and civilization are investigated, including such cultures that the West is in fear of as Islamism and Confucianism. Problems caused by the conflicts between capitalism and civilization are described, and so are the alienation of indigenous cultural renaissance. In Section III, the contradictory interaction of the development of art in globalization is examined. From the transition of Western logocentric concept, this paper discusses the transformation of post-modern art and its contradictory interaction, as well as how to transcendently realize the ideal of multiculturalism in the process of globalization.
