The thesis of this research is on the experiences of the continuing bonds between the bereaved and the deceased. Under the guidance of hermeneutic phenomenological method, the researcher collects the empirical data through the in-depth interviews with the four participants. The result of the text-analysis is delineated and interpreted by the following two aspects: (1) the continuing bonds under the bereavement situations and (2) the spiritual meanings embedded therein. The deep meanings of the experiences of the continuing bonds are thus presented. The results of the research are as follows:(1) The continuing bonds between the bereaved and the deceased can be presented through body, time, places, objects and relationship, and appear in various forms. (2) The deep affection between the bereaved and the deceased is the main drive that makes the bereaved maintain the continuing bonds with the deceased. The continuing bonds appear in the forms of “focus” and “background” interactively, and will develop throughout the lives of the bereaved. (3) The bereaved uncover the embedded spirituality by interpreting the meanings of the continuing bonds and digging out the existential meanings of themselves. The grief is then transformed. (4) Paying attention to the continuing bonds and exploring their meanings will bring more conversations between the bereaved and their companions; it will also help the bereaved be aware of the existential meanings from which the continuing bonds arouse. The researcher makes some suggestions according to the results of the research, hoping that they might be helpful to the future researches and to those who work with the bereaved.
