This study first traces back the history of woodcarving looming from China, Taiwan to Lugang. Next, the supporting policies in Korea, France, United Kingdom and Sweden are compared. Third, five woodcarving masters based on Lugang are interviewed and a picture of the woodcarving industry in Lugan is drawn.
