Abstract:	本研究的資料來源，是以新竹地區五年期間（民國八十六年至九十年）所發生過的4000多件司法相驗案件，從中將所有的501件自殺死亡挑出來做研究對象。接著將501件自殺案件區分為性別、年份、年齡、婚姻、職業、月份、自殺縣市、自殺地點、自殺方式及自殺原因等十個項目，並對性別、自殺縣市（城鄉）及自殺原因三個主題進行分析討論。在自殺性別方面，新竹地區男性自殺率約為女性的兩倍，且會隨年齡增加而有上升的趨勢，在60歲以上的老年人更高達38﹪。其它自殺率較者還包括已婚者、社會階層低者、患有疾病者，在自殺的選擇上是以上吊為最多。相對於女性的自殺率也會隨年齡增加而上升，但在60歲以上的老人家卻只有24﹪。其它自殺較高者還包括已婚者、社會階層低及心理因素的患者，女性在自殺的選擇也是以上吊為最多。在城鄉方面，新竹縣的自殺率不僅高於新竹市，且有較年輕化的趨勢，自殺方式會以農藥為主要手段。反觀新竹市除了自殺率較低外，自殺方式是以上吊為主。縣市的共同點為八十六年後自殺率都有上升的趨勢。最後在自殺原因方面，疾病因素會隨年齡增加而有上升的趨勢，高峰期為70至79歲間。精神因素及心理因素的自殺者大多是年紀較輕的族群，高峰期約為20至49歲間。社會因素集中於中壯年，高峰期為40至49歲間。至於疾病因素有逐年減緩，但精神因素及社會因素卻是逐年增加的趨勢。 The resource and the study of this thesis is based on 501 completed suicide cases picked out of more than 4000 dead cases conformed by judicature in Hsinchu area from 1997 to 2001. The collected data has been divided into 10 categories: sex, year, age, marriage, occupation, month, district, location, methods and reasons, among which three categories of sex, district and reasons have been especially analyzed and discussed in the thesis. By sex category, in Hsinchu area the suicide ratio of male is two times of female. It also indicates that it is increasing by age growing, and up to 38% they are above 60 years old. These characters include the males who got married, low social class and physical illness, will mainly commit suicide by hanging themselves. On the other hand, the suicide ratio of female is also increasing by age growing but only 24% are above 60 years old. These characters also include those females who got married, low social class and psychological problems, but will mainly choose two suicide methods by drinking pesticide or hanging themselves. By district category, the suicide ratio of Hsinchu County is higher than Hsinchu City, and the age is younger. Although the suicide ratio of two different districts is getting higher since 1997, drinking pesticide in Hsinchu County is more whereas hanging is the main course in Hsinchu City. The suicide reason caused by physical illness is increasing with ages and has a peak appearing on 70-79 of age interval. The suicide reason caused by mental and psychological illness is happening on young group and has a peak appearing on 20-49 of age interval. The suicide reason caused by social problems is mainly happening on matured adult and has a peak appearing on 40-49 of age interval. There are magnificent indications that the persons commit suicide caused by physical illness is gradually decreasing while caused by mental illness and social problems is gradually increasing within recent years.
