A human body is a profound and dedicated machine of life. Every organ in the body works together and of course affects each other to keep us alive. The function of each organ is similar to a gear and a bolt of the machine. Once a machine is out of order, the mechanic will certainly check the part thoroughly and then try to fix it. However, compared with the machine, the process of checking malfunctioned human organ is not as easy as machine fixing because every organ is unique and rare in the world. Besides. in medicine, there is no technique can treat or recover the malfunctioned organs. The only thing we can do with medical treatment is taking ailed organs from the body, then transplant the healthy ones (from live or dead patients) to the body. Thus the patients' lives will continue and the machine of life can be operated again. According to the statistics of the Health Administration, there are about 6000 patients ever year who are in critical condition and are waiting for organ transplanting. However, the average organ donators are only 100 a year, which can't copy with the need of the people who are killed due to the accident. In order to help more critical patients, save valuable lives and assist countless happy families, organ donation as well as transplanting are getting more important. Because Taiwan is conservative about the issue of organ sale and the government makes a lot of effort to block the sale, there is no law on organ transplanting and the sale of organs is illegal. Therefore, many patients who need transplanting surgery have to go to China, which evokes much controversy. If the NPO (Non-Profit Organization) foundation can serve as a middleman, more patients can benefit from this flexible medical policy. Besides, The related researches of NPO and transplanting are rarely seen in Taiwan, so we need to pay more attention to it. As a result, through the discussion of this paper, we hope that the related organizations and the government concerned will concern about the issue and thus benefit more people. |
