As for the reservation of art, predecessors’ techniques and experiences all along cannot withstand the trial of the passing time. Most artistic creation and intellectual property always wither away with years. What they left behind for the posterity is often lamentably few. It’s true that with the rapid developing of the Internet, many digital museums mushroom one after another; National Science Council also founded National Digital Archives Program but if we only depend on the power of few professionals to establish digital museum, the efficiency will be limited and hard to reach the goal of popularizing education. Therefore, this research is to explore the significance of digitalizing art works’ reservation, and try to take works of sculptor: Hsieh Tong-Liang for example, setting up a model of digital reservation system for artists to digitally reserve their own works. Moreover, this system is easy to operate. Wherever Internet is provided, people can at any time or place renew the website contents of the proscenium from the backstage. Consequently, besides helping artists reserve, categorize, and give about the ideas of their works, the system can also supply textual research for the future researches and provide the masses an environment to enjoy and to admire art. The first chapter explains the research’s background, motivation, purposes, research methods, and limitations. To probe into the weightiness of digital reservation, the second chapter explains the meaning, impacts, and universal developments of digital reservation, and also the trickily substitute or complementary relationship between digital museum and concrete museum. As for the third chapter, it is about the evolution of the digital reservation system. Via understanding artists and schemes of the contents we can design the system. The forth chapter is on the tests and evaluations of the system. It adopts〝expert’s evaluation method〞and〝user’s measure method〞,and gets suggestions by analyzing the evaluating results to improve the integrity of the digital reservation system. In the end, the fifth chapter brings up conclusions of three dimensions, and provides the suggestions for future growth, according to the significance of reserving artistic property, digitalizing art, and popularizing art.
