This project continues the project of Confucianism and the thought of rites, and still studies the problematic introspection of ritual philosophy, which traces back to the rite of Zuozhuan and connects with the formation of the thought of rites in Xun-Zi. The study purpose of the project is about two aspects. First, I found the thought of rites of Xun-Zi is very important in the project of Confucianism and the thought of rites and by the study of recent scholars, Xun-Zi who be a Confucian passed down the classics influenced by Zuozhuan. On the base of the clue of Zuozhuan and Xun-Zi, my project research the rite of Zuozhuan and it's ethics ideas, which relating to the thought of rites of Xun-Zi. Secondary, the thought of rites not only is the main context of Confucianism, but also the core theory of Xun-Zi. And according to rite and justice from ‘follow the latter kings’, which history is model of moral the culture of period of Chun-Chiu represents the ethical rites. Therefore Zuozhuan which includes the record of description and review of rites is the sources of thought of rite in the historical consciousness of Xun-Zi. About the method of study, I make a table that compare rites with ethical thought in Zuozhuan text by the research methods of problem of origins. According to the compared table that present the thought of rites and Confucian ethics in Zuozhuan, I could induct the thought of rites of Zuozhuan and build the dialogue with the thought of rites of Xun-Zi. The study comprehends the formation and development of the thought of rites in Xun-Zi, which include rule of rite, law of rite and Book of Rites with Xun-Zi. I wish that the project could deduct the historical context of Confucianism.
