    Abstract: The main objective of this paper is to examine the exent to which currenteconomic and social sicence theory can illuminate the strategies that Integrated Agricultural Adjustment Program ( IAAP ) for Taiwan have proposed.These theories are divided into three groups including: ヾ theories of socioeconomic development, ゝ partiul theories of economic and agriculturaldevelopment, ゞ the induced innovation model of agricultural development. The induced innovation model pointed out that the interaction of manynatural, economic, techonological, institutional and social varialnes determinethe productivity of farmers. The analysis of IAAP for Taiwan shows that there aren't agreementwith the economic and social theory of agricultural development whkh was theepistemelog-ical obstacle within program and strategies.
