Freeze-dried samples of marine microalga Isochrysis galbana TK2 were subjected to supercritical CO2 at a temperature of 40℃ and pressure between 2000 and 4000 psi. Results showed that the solubility and extracted yields of the lipids increased with the pressure. The extracted yields of the lipids were 9.16-10.01% when the pressure was between 3500 and 4000 psia. The saturated fatty acid composition of supercritical CO2 extracted lipid was not significantly different in the case of n-hexane extracted oil; however, the polyunsaturated fatty acid composition was significantly different between the extracted lipids. The color of the supercritical CO2 extracted oil was yellow-oreen and was brighter than the color of the n-hexane extracted oil.
