    Abstract:   王家祥作為以自然書寫的散文成名的作家,卻於1995年前後開始轉型創作歷史小說。由於王家祥的轉型期適逢解嚴之初,如何定義台灣主體的各種聲音開始百家爭鳴,其小說作品中大量出現的原住民角色,又與當時重新檢視原住民在台灣主體中的地位的訴求被提出,且廣泛受到關注的時間點十分接近,因此許多針對王家祥歷史小說的研究,均將文本置於後殖民主義、人類學民族誌的脈絡中去觀照。  然而,從王家祥的創作年表來看,若單以一個漢人作家回顧原住民長期被剝削受壓迫的經歷,並作出反省與思考的角度,似乎難以合理地說明其大幅度地轉換寫作領域的動機;加上王家祥在小說中,仍大量在情節中加入對於原生自然景觀的描寫,以及對於原住民與土地生態和諧共生的敘述與推崇,可以看出對於自然生態的關懷、對環保意識的提倡,仍然是王家祥寫作的重要動機與目的。  本文試圖對王家祥的小說對於不同的人類族群與自然生態的描寫進行觀照,期能整理歸結出其在轉型創作小說的過程中,對於「如何定義本土」此一問題,有別於本土論爭中大部分以人類為核心的主張與論述,去人類中心主義式的思考與轉折──唯有理解如何與土地共生,融入自然環境與生態系統之中,才能真正屬於乃至成為本土。
      Wang Jia-xiang, who established himself in the field of Nature Writing in prose, suddenly has shifted his focus to Historical Novels in 1995. During his transition of career, the starting of the Post-Martial Law Period has begun in Taiwan. Since the extensive change spread throughout the whole country, intellectuals started giving multiple opinions of the fundamental culture of Taiwanese social history liberally. Meanwhile, Wang's novels introduced a great deal of indigenous people and demanded the public to review their official position in the history. Many scholars and researchers analysed his works by classifying his position as the contexts of Post-colonialism and Ethnography-Anthropology filed.  However, if we look at the progress of his creations chronologically and carefully, the previous classification is not enough to explain the substantial transition of his writing motivation. Besides, his Han identity is lake of the reason to state clearly and strongly for the indigenous people who have suffered from oppression and exploitation for a long period. On top of that, Wang input abundant illustrations of natural landscape and native scenic area. As readers, we can definitely see his ambition and passion have landed on not only describing the harmonious co-existence potential, but also praising highly for how indigenous people can live with nature in balance. By putting our focus on this viewpoint, Wang's works are now all expose his purpose and motivation on the idea of advocating people's environmental awareness.   The following content includes the perspectives and observations about Wang's statement and depiction of Ethnic group and the eco-system in Taiwan. Furthermore, I will also address this crucial issue and the main idea of "how to define native culture" by collecting and analysing Wang's works and his writing process. Apart from most of the relative assertions and ideologies which came from Anthropocentrism theory, my approach is to start with the Anti-Anthropocentrism aspect. By specifying this core concept, I will also declare clearly why "fully understanding the living of harmonious co-existence between human and nature" is one of the key ways towards the solution of tracing back to the native culture.
