Currently, bicycles have been widely used in many places by different ages of people. There are several types of bicycles for specific purposes, such as leisure, cross-country, and mountaineering. It is noted that the application of high technology in bike frame, such as carbon-fiber, titanium alloy, board type, and one piece forming has also been considered. However, the development of bicycles is too fast, many aspects of ergonomic problems on bicycles, such as vibration effects, body structure stability, and riding comfort, need further studies to ensure that users are in favorable conditions. The objective of this research is to explore the vibration effects on hands when people are riding bicycles in different road conditions. The development process of the research includes: (1) data collection on bike frame dimensions and related body extremity anthropometry, (2) physical model construction and virtual environment setup, and (3) experimental simulation on riding operation. The concept of statistical multivariate analysis is applied with the assistance of SPSS software. The result indicated that the scale of vibration will affect hand gripping; while road slope will have little effect. It is expected that the result can assist designers to consider how to improve body frame and choose materials for reducing vibration when people are riding.
