Based on Dr. Sun Yat-sen's writings and speeches, his world views, principled beliefs, and causal beliefs are inductively identified in this article by using Judith Goldstein and Robert O. Keohane's categories of ideas, which will influence foreign policy. Then, the principles of foreign policy of the PRC since 1949 are examined by Dr. Sun's world views and principled beliefs. The author finds that the principles of foreign policy and the foreign policy of the PRC are getting similar to Dr. Sun's principles of foreign policy after China launched its economic reform and opening in 1979. This trend manifestly tells us that Dr. Sun's thoughts and his insights still have value for reference for the national development of China today.
