The mortality of cancer has been the top of the ten causes of death in Taiwan since 1982. The number of death due to cancer is increasing each year. In the past, patient whether there is a possibility of cure or at the end of life, always have to be performed resuscitation eventually. However, resuscitation can not save life when patients have terminally ill, but it will increase suffering and has not a good death. Most patients will undergo tremendous physical, mental and spiritual distress during the long-term treatment of their terminal illnesses, and die at suffering finally. Hospice palliative care can provide specific services for the end of life and obtain good death lastly. Nurses in the hospice have performed daily care with terminally ill patients and their family members; and have faced with many aspects of their emotional responses-helplessness and emotion. However, those are related to the end-stage cases and family inspections. According to the literature, there are many studies on those having relevance, but there are very few research on the mental journey of the nurse who need to care for the patients at the terminally ill. Therefore, my aim is to discuss the mental journey of the hospital nurses for the exchange experience in the nursing care. This study will explore the care myth and its coping process of HPC, conduct in-depth interviews with qualitative research, and finally, collect and discuss the interview data of five hospice nurses.
