Taiwan has implemented the first local grassroots elections in 1946 and the first direct presidential elections in 1996. They have been in practice for more than 70 years. Through a variety of elections, the candidates in the hearts of the people have their sacred votes. However, bribery has long prevailed in Taiwan and has even formed an election culture, especially in local grassroots elections. Even though Taiwan has gone through the process of democratization and the rotation of political parties, bribery in local grassroots elections is still quite common. In order to understand the reasons for the bribery election in a certain town and its impact, this study decided to conduct an in-depth study to interview 20 residents of a certain township and obtain their reasons for accepting the bribery. The study found that the behavior of bribery elections in a township; the influence of local factions on election activities in a township; the reasons for candidates with no faction background to choose disadvantaged factions; the reasons for the successful election of candidates with no faction background. The article also discusses the influence of bribery and election behavior on candidates, factions and voters in their psychology, physiology and family, career and interpersonal relationships.
