”Widowed”, for most people, is a very sad life experience. Most people are stuck in this situation after encountering it and the only differences are the length of time and the degree of grief . Some people involved in severe cases even embark on a path of no return. The purpose of this research is to explore a male body and soul worker’s inner sufferings and entanglements during the years from knowing the cancer of his spouse, keeping company with her in the long painful struggle against illness to, lastly, falling into the desperate abyss of losing her in his later years. Although accompanying his sick spouse for many years and trying hard to build up a strong mind to face death, he still could not get rid of the complex emotions of sadness, pain, loss, self-blame and other negative emotions when death really came . His wife was the most beloved and important person who had been occupied his entire life, and losing her caused a drastic impact on both his body and spiritual conditions. Even though he is a body and soul worker, it was very difficult for him to fight against the subsequent sadness and despair, and moreover, to let go of these complex feelings. This study uses narrative research methods in the qualitative research, trying to concern the life change of someone who underwent the death of his spouse and find out the ways to overcome the sadness after it. This research attempts to start with the establishment of mutual trust between the researcher and the participant, and then observes the life and does in-depth interviews through a sincere and steadily interactive process to understand the experiences and feelings of the participant in this traumatic incident and to find out that the meaning of this incident is only sorrow or reveals other values in life. The textual understanding and analysis are combined in this research. The intention is to make the participant understand that the complex emotions which impact his body and mind are extremely detrimental to his physical and mental health and make him step on the opposite direction from his career as a body and soul worker. And this research also tries to help the participant restart to interact with people, return to a normal life and get his attention back to those who need his concern again, transfering the personal sorrowful experiences into a self-healing practice and emotional release after this sad event and endowing it a positive meaning in life.
