This research is a qualitative study that combines semi-structured in-depth interviews and participant observation. By interviewing the trainees participating in the training and their families, this research aims to understand their motivation, training process, and physiological and psychological feelings. In addition, the author interviewed the coaches and observed their interactions with trainees and the trainees’ changes in physical, psychological and social levels. With reference to applicable policies, suggestions are put forward for public and private sectors to promote the “Prevention and Delay of Disability” program, with the goal of facilitating the implementation of “aging in place” and “positive aging”. The research results showed that the participating trainees, as well as their families, positioned themselves as “patients in need of rehabilitation” and that due to current medical services failing to satisfy their needs, they resorted to the rehabilitation program as an alternative, with the goal of overcoming their current predicament and seeking health restoration. It was also found that due to the lack of understanding or fear of “weight training”, the public had discrimination against it in the name of caring. They tended to passively care about the trainees and were unduly worried about the potential danger or harm, but neglected the positive rights of the trainees to improve their health status through exercises under safety protection. “Ku Mu Fong Chun” works through the bodywork of their trainees to fill the gaps in the current scientific-medical dualism. In this way, they strove to enhance the care about human nature. Therefore, their relationship with trainees goes beyond coaches and trainers, or consumers and practitioners, but friends and partners who have been in close contact like families. Only mutual trust and cooperation are established can the best outcome be achieved during the large-weight training. In the class, coupled with physical training, the mutual encouragement among trainees and the heartening words from the coaches greatly boost the confidence of trainees, facilitating the achievement of the goal of positive aging. Although the trainees and their families expressed their optimism about the possibility of implementing “aging in place” in communities, it is necessary to first establish the concept of “healthy lifestyle” among people. By means such as making promotions with the help of representative figures or inviting local public figures to voice their call, the participation willingness of community elders can be enhanced, and by introducing relevant policies as a supplement, the integration of private and government resources can be facilitated. With these efforts, the goal of delaying aging and promoting health promises to be fulfilled.
