In response to the advancements in technology and the Internet, coupled with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the teaching methods have undergone a transformation, with a shift from traditional classroom teaching to online instruction. Therefore, this study takes Taiwanese elementary schools as an example to explore the differences between traditional teaching and online teaching among elementary school teachers. It analyzes the situations of teachers in Taiwan regarding traditional teaching and online teaching, as well as the differences in teaching effectiveness, and provides research analysis and recommendations. This study adopts the method of in-depth interviews, interviewing two to three elementary school teachers in northern, central, and southern Taiwan to understand the current teaching practices of elementary school teachers in Taiwan regarding traditional teaching and online teaching. It also analyzes the advantages, disadvantages, and teaching effectiveness of these methods. The conclusions of this study are as follows:1. Traditional teaching methods allow for face-to-face communication with students in real-time, making it easier for teachers to grasp students' learning progress. However, the ability of teachers to adapt to unforeseen circumstances and respond quickly is tested due to the face-to-face interaction with students.2. Online teaching methods are not constrained by time and space, allowing students to learn at any time and from anywhere. However, it relies on the availability of online teaching devices, the self-directed learning capabilities of students, and the cooperation of parents.
