This study aims to explore the relationship between internet addiction, satisfaction of internet use, evaluation of the costs of internet addiction, and restraint bias among upper-grade elementary school students. The study adopted a questionnaire survey method and focused on upper-grade elementary school students in the Changhua area of Taiwan. The results of the study showed that the level of satisfaction of internet use for leisure and entertainment had an influential effect on internet addiction among upper-grade elementary school students. However, the satisfaction of internet use in the academic knowledge domain had an inhibitory effect on internet addiction. Furthermore, both the evaluation of the costs of internet addiction and restraint bias had significant predictive power for internet addiction. Based on the research results, it is recommended that students should pay attention to time allocation when using the internet to avoid being attracted by entertainment content and becoming addicted to the online world. At the same time, parents and teachers should strengthen education and supervision of adolescents, helping them to better understand the harm of internet addiction and their overestimation of their ability to resist temptation, in order to use the internet effectively and avoid the harm of internet addiction.
