    Abstract: 苗栗火炎山地區為礫石層地層發育之丘陵地,長期溪谷的源頭侵蝕作用,在上游之邊坡形成崩塌地,而崩落的礫石停積於邊坡趾部與堆積於溪谷源頭中,為豪雨發生時產生土石流之材料來源。加上溪谷之側蝕作用,形成兩岸陡峭之邊坡,並直接將土石崩落至溪谷中,豪雨來臨時以土石流型態搬運至下游堆積,更因其堆積規模之龐大,及不斷發生土石流,造成下方道路與房舍不斷遭掩埋,致使道路改由隧道方式通過堆積土石區。本研究擬藉理論分析、像片基本圖判釋、現地調查與GIS處理等方法,以苗栗縣火炎山為案例,進行邊坡礫石層形成崩塌或坡面型土石流,再於下游形成標準型土石流過程之變遷分析,以期掌握影響土石流發生、流動、堆積過程之因子。研究結果顯示崩塌面積、坡型、坡度、流深、降雨量及強度等因子,是本區土石流發生的主要原因,也是引發崩塌地變遷的重要因子。
