With the occurrence of global catastrophic events and our inability to accurately predict next disaster, the preparedness before a catastrophic event has become an important issue which cannot be ignored. Unfortunately, there are only limited numbers of research focus on pre-disaster preparations in the National Social Work field. This could lead to the risk of facing even greater catastrophe due to lack of disaster management. The purpose of the article is to explore the education and training needs of social workers in preparing them for a catastrophic event. This article uses Beck's risk society theory as a framework to examine the education contents and curriculum in the Disaster of Social Work education. This article suggests the following areas should be emphasized: (1) training on self-reflection; (2) social work values and ethics; (3) Life Concern; (4) Philosophy and Life; (5) enhance the dialogue between practice and education; and (6) the ability to sense the changes in the social environment.
