視覺藝術一詞的定義通常是指傳統的美術作品，其中包括了繪畫、雕塑、工藝等。十八世紀後，隨著西方工業革命與文明快速發展，在工業、經濟、社會與文化開始有了巨大的變化，顛覆了過去純傳統藝術的觀念；在進入二十一世紀後，電腦科技與網際技術的快速成熟，對於「新科技」的運用與實驗，數位藝術開始扮演起重要的角色，成為藝術表現的一種新形式，也為藝術家帶來新的創作思維與新的素材，因此藝術本身也因新媒體的結合逐漸脫離傳統的範疇。自從科技的發達與進步，提供給藝術家另一種創作管道，豐富他們的創作內涵，而科技與藝術的連結，也破除我們一般認知科學理性與藝術感性互不相容的迷思。本研究探討以視覺藝術為主的「傳統形式」與「數位形式」兩者之間的變化差異，發現兩者在藝術創作理念、媒材、作品形式、特色等的差異性是由多方面因素而造成；研究目的在解析藝術的轉變過程、創作手法、創作風格、觀念等議題。可以得到的論點是兩者雖因使用的媒材與手法的相異，但追求美感與提升藝術價值的認知上是相同的。 The definition of the term "visual arts" usually refers to the traditional works of art, including painting, sculpture, and crafts. In the 18th century, with the rapid development of western industrial revolution and civilization, technology, economy, society and culture began to have a huge change which subverted the past pure traditional concepts of art. When the age comes to the 21st century, computer technology and internet technology are rapid maturation. With the use and experiment of new technology, digital art began to play an important role, which became a new form of artistic expression. It brings in new and creative thinking with new material for artists. Therefore, art itself also moved away from the traditional areas due to a combination of new media. The progress of science and technology has made available for artists to final another creative way to enrich their contents. With the link of technology and art, it also undermines the myth of cognitive science and rationality being incompatible with artistic sensibility. The research probes the topic of visual art through the different changes between visual arts and digital form which found both differences in the creative ideas, media, works style and features of both forms, are caused by a variety of factors. The research aims to parsing the transformation of the arts in the creativity, style, ideas and other issues. The final argument is found that although both visual arts due to the use of the media are different but the pursuit of aesthetics and the promotion the artistic value are the same.
