Taiwan is filled with unique mountains and forest. With the improvement of the quality of people's life, recreational activities have become more and more diverse. Among them, mountain hiking is very popular, because people enjoy doing sports and relaxing outdoor. The number of people who enjoy going mountain hiking is increasing, but the problem of environmental pollution has also emerged. In order to solve this problem, the Bureau of Forest had learned the campaign from the United States, which was called "Leave-No-Trace", to develop useful staff. After the foundation had built, it was designated as "Leave No Trace" in the vote of Internet in 2006. The concept of forest protection campaign has promoted everywhere. The traceless forest movement has been mobilized 12 years since 2006. This study is intended to explore the current status of the promotion in the movement, and to understand how it has influenced mountaineers on hiking in southern part of Taiwan. In this study, it was surveyed by distributing 500 questionnaires in the Beida Wushan University. 439 questionnaires were collected. The collecting rate was 87.8%. Except for the invalid questionnaires, 403 valid questionnaires remained, and the recovery rate of useful questionnaire was 91.8%. According to the research, with many years of promotion, the results are outstanding in the overall process of understanding and execution about this movement, but there are still incorrect concepts about it, for example, there is a lot of arguments about soil vulnerability, environmental load and organic waste. People have not noticed that theirs behaviors often offend creatures that lived in forest, such as they bring with insects and seeds themselves in and out of mountains or show their kindness to animal. Compared to majority of mountain hikers, experienced mountaineering hikers are relatively meticulous to those who have less climbed in mountains.
