During the agricultural era, a majority of folk arts were sports and entertainment activities that villagers participated in at their leisure. Later on, due to the influx of younger participants, some of these groups made the headlines of tabloid newspapers for partaking in the usage of tobacco, alcohol, drugs, and other misconduct. Thus, folk arts groups developed a negative image in the eyes of the general public. However, in recent years, the successive release of folk arts films in the domestic film industry, as well as the government’s promotion of Taiwanese folk arts as a cultural heritage in schools, has attracted public attention. This paper focuses on ”Dio Tao” as the topic of research. First, it analyzes the film with regards to the confliction between the inheritance of Dio Tao culture and innovation, as well as the infusion of contemporary cultural inheritance. Furthermore, it analyzes the impact of parent-child and peer relationships on the Dio Tao culture. Will it change the public’s opinion of Dio Tao? Will it enhance Dio Tao’s status in Taiwan?
