Music is one of the important symbols of the Bunun culture. The Bunun is an grou that emphasizes the use of harmony. Whether it is in traditional ceremonies or lifestyle habits, the presentation and recording of the entire Bunun social and cultural evolution process are closely related to choral music. Folk songs are the best material to guide children into the world of music, and they are also the only way to cultivate children's love of music and art and inherit the traditional culture of the nation. Kodály’s music teaching method mainly emphasizes the function of choir in promoting the development of music culture, and uses folk songs as materials to let children sing songs of their own national style. Therefore, this study attempts to use semiotic analysis and lens analysis to explore how the school uses the local Bunun music culture to build a choir in the film “Listen Before You Sing”; and analyze the training process of the school choir in the movie compared to Kodály's music teaching method, highlighting the important characteristics of choir education. It is hoped that in the future, the research results can be incorporated into the teaching strategies of the choir team, allowing more children to have access to their own ethnic music and inherit precious ethnic music culture through music education.
