    Abstract: 善終是大多數人夢寐以求的心願,然而現在關於臨終病患照顧方面之探討,大多仍以癌症病患為主,依賴呼吸器老年慢性病患及家屬的臨終照顧問題卻被忽視。研究者從病患家屬照護心理歷程之探討,了解協助此類老年慢性病患家屬,擁有生活品質及臨終病程之尊嚴的可能方向。 研究者透過南部一所區域教學醫院中,對於參與陪伴照護依賴呼吸器老年病患家屬之質性研究,以參予觀察及深入訪談方法,歸納出家屬心理與病患之臨終照護心理歷程有插管接呼吸器、氣管切開接呼吸器以及臨終前的瀕死期三個階段,這三階段分別受到社會倫理道德觀念之約束以及對於病患不能善終的憂慮兩個因素之影響。 本研究對應用領域的可能貢獻有以下兩點:(1)提供醫療體系對於依賴呼吸器老年病患及家屬之照護與處置的改進參考;(2)作為反省臨終關懷及生死教育內容之基礎。
